Aishwarya Somal is the Director of Emerson Migration Law and Emerson Family Law, also serving in leadership roles such as Vice President of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (Queensland) and board member of Serving Our People Inc. and Goldbridge Rehabilitation Services. She is a highly respected Australian Immigration lawyer, bringing a wealth of expertise and a personal understanding of the migration journey.

 She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and is fluent in English and Hindi. She is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia, and a Registered Legal Practitioner with the Department of Home Affairs. Her practice focuses on corporate migration for global businesses and humanitarian/family visas, offering tailored legal solutions with a blend of strategy, empathy and social justice.

Gavin is a seasoned Family Law Solicitor with over 19 years of experience in top firms in Brisbane. He specialises in complex parenting and financial cases, international family law (including Hague Convention matters), and creating financial agreements for couples. Gavin is adept at managing high-stakes cases involving business and trust restructuring.

As a staunch advocate for alternative dispute resolution, he seeks to resolve matters amicably, resorting to court only when necessary.
Beyond his legal practice, Gavin is deeply committed to community service, volunteering at the Caxton Legal Centre and mentoring through the University of Queensland and QUT.

Amelia Kousary

Amelia is a junior lawyer who graduated from the Queensland University of Technology in 2021 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). She completed her practical legal training at the College of Law and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland. Amelia obtained a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland in 2024, specialising in public international law.

She received the Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence for her outstanding achievement in the master’s program. Amelia practices in the Migration Division of Emerson Migration Law, specialising in partner, parent and other family migration matters. She is a native English speaker with a spoken proficiency in Farsi

Catherine Ritua

Junior Lawyer

Catherine is a junior lawyer having recently been admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in August 2025. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) with a minor in Psychological Science from the Queensland University of Technology in December 2024, with subject awards received for the Highest Achievement in Statutory Interpretation. Catherine then completed her practical legal training at the College of Law in May 2025. She is a native speaker of both English and Filipino, with Ilocano roots. Her attention to detail assists with her specialty in corporate migration.

Chase is a law clerk at Emerson Migration Law, where she contributes to the firm’s migration services. Chase is currently in her second year of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her academic pursuit at QUT, combined with her clerking role, allows her to further develop critical legal skills, preparing her for a promising future in law.

Karla Vieyra

Accounts Clerk

Karla Vieyra was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, in 1999. From an early age, she demonstrated a strong interest in the management and administration of financial resources, which led her to pursue a degree in Financial Administration at the University of Guanajuato. At the age of 22, she graduated and began her career at the Secretariat of Finance for the State of Guanajuato.
In December 2023, Karla completed a Master’s degree in Administration, focusing on developing skills in business management and leadership.
In 2024, Karla moved to Brisbane, Australia, where she currently works at Emerson Family Law as an Accounts Clerk. In her role, she is responsible for managing financial records and assisting in the preparation of financial reports.

Elysia Lay

Client Liaison Officer

Elysia is a client liaison officer and receptionist at Emerson Migration and Family Law. She recently graduated from the Queensland University of Technology in 2024 with a Bachelor of Law (Honours) and a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology). As the first point of contact for clients, Elysia is passionate about helping clients navigate through the complexities of migration and family law. Elysia is a native English speaker with a spoken proficiency in Hakka Chinese.
