The different types of student visas are known by different ‘subclasses’.
Each subclass has its own set of criteria that must be satisfied in order for it to be granted.

The Student Visa (subclass 500) allows holders to:

– Obtain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), unless they qualify for an exemption.
– Be at least six years of age.
– Provide evidence of a welfare arrangement if under the age of 18.
– As part of your Student Visa, you might also need to demonstrate financial capacity to cover tuition and living expenses, provide for your return travel, and have health and character clearances, along with proof of English proficiency.

Subclass 590

A Student Guardian (subclass 590) is able to support a student visa holder who is under 18 years of age or older due to exceptional circumstances.

Subclass 407
Training Visa

The Training Visa (subclass 407) gives you the opportunity to engage in on-site training to enhance your professional skills, further your tertiary education, as well as to participate in a professional development program. This temporary visa, valid for up to two years, allows for multiple entries into and exits from Australia while it remains valid

Who can apply?

– Individuals who are 18 years old or older with sponsorship,
– Prospects of legal age with a nomination (not required for Commonwealth Government agency sponsors),
– Candidates of legal age with an invitation (only necessary for Commonwealth Government agency sponsors)

Basic Requirements:
– meet the financial requirements,
– meet the health requirements,
– meet the character requirements, and
– meet the English requirements.

The GTE requirement - Student Visas

The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement ensures that the student visa program is used as intended, by identifying applicants whose primary motive is to gain a quality education rather than other intentions.

Ministerial Direction 69 outlines the factors considered in assessing compliance with the GTE requirement.

Before submitting your Student Visa application, our team of migration experts will ensure your adherence to the GTE criteria, substantiated by a comprehensive Statement of Purpose (SOP).
